SEC SPORTS REPORT
ATLANTA, Ga- I pity the Boise State football players. There coming into Atlanta, Georgia believing they are the favored team for Saturday night.
It reminds me of a 12th grade football player at my high school who thought he was going to teach my 11th grade friend some manners after school. "RB" threw the first punch and whipped his tail for everybody to see and the senior never said another word to "RB" the rest of the year.
I don’t have a dog in this fight but one thing I know is Georgia isn’t losing the Boise State game.
There has been a complete makeover of the 2010 Georgia Bulldogs. They needed it too. Georgia had gotten lazy and really wasn’t united around a single purpose. After getting upset by Central Florida in the Liberty bowl, the coaches are pushing this team to a much higher level. The Bulldogs are having to prove to the world that they are relevant again.
The last thing you want to do is go up against a team that is angry and out to prove that they are the baddest team in the country. That’s what Boise State is walking into. The scene will be very similar to the Georgia-Alabama game of 2008. Georgia was ranked #3 and Alabama was #8. Georgia was playing at home, came out in all black uniforms and had no idea what had been unleashed by Nick Saban.

The game was over at half time. Alabama dominated the line in the first half and showed that you don’t disrespect a power house team like the Tide. It was men against boys on that night.
Same situation here. The news media has been rough on the Bulldogs for two years and Saturday isMark Richt’s chance to show that he is a top coach in the country. This Bulldog team is hungry, very physical and they are playing for their coach who’s job is on the line. No doubt they are motivated.
But Boise State knocked off Virginia Tech 33-30 in 2010. Let’s face it, Tech never starts out the gate with a big push. Then Boise State beat Oregon State 37-24 and went 12-1. Top 10 finish. 12-1 in the WAC conference not the SEC.
Welcome to the SEC. There is a reason why the last five national championships have come from the SEC. Better athletes, more speed. Quarterback Kellen Moore will be running for his life Saturday night.
Moore will get his bell rattled a number of times and then it’s a different game. Georgia will dominate the line of scrimmage and have long sustained drives showing off their super running back, Isaiah Crowell. Aaron Murray will have another great game.
Georgia wins 31-21.

THE WASHINGTON POST- Mississippi State men’s basketball coach Rick Stansbury announced Thursday that he is retiring after 14 seasons.

CBS SPORTS- South Carolina had determined that Darrin Horn will not continue as its men's basketball coach, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Tuesday.
An official announcement is expected at 1:30 p.m. today. Horn spent four seasons at South Carolina after a five-year stint at Western Kentucky that culminated with a trip to the Sweet 16 of the 2008 NCAA tournament. The notoriety gained from that one season -- really, just those two weeks in early March -- made Horn an attractive candidate at South Carolina, but he was never able to take the Gamecocks to the NCAA tournament.
