RECRUITING: Bulldogs Get 345 lb JUCO

SCOUT.COM-  Mark Richt added #24 commit with a 345 lbs, 6'7" O-lineman from Albany, Georgia...

SCOUT.COM- Trent Brown,a native of Albany and a current GMC player, said he couldn't find a place that matched Georgia in terms of everything he was looking for.

"I felt most comfortable when I went to Georgia. I have known the coaches there for a long time," he said.

"It’s UGA for me," Brown said - admitting that he'd told Georgia coach Will Friend of his commitment last week. He let head coach Mark Richt know Tuesday.

But Brown didn't grow up a Georgia fan. He said he always liked Florida State for a slew of reasons including that his cousin Tay Cody played for the Noles in the late 1990s.

"Growing up I was a Florida State fan – particularly in the late 1990s. The Bobby Bowden Era was a great one," Brown said. "I think the best part about going to Georgia is playing under Mark Richt. Family was something big I was looking for in a school, and he was at Florida State when I really liked them. "

Brown will play offensive tackle for the Bulldogs, will enroll in January and is Georgia's 24th commitment of the class of 2013.

Brown will have to complete his time at GMC before enrolling at Georgia in the winter. He said he's had a difficult path to his commitment to Georgia, and that he's learned from it.

"I’ve had a long couple of years here lately. I came to GMC with the mindset that I would not make the same mistakes in the classroom again," he said. "It has been a ride, but its been worth it. I have learned not to rest on your laurels. At any moment everything can be taken from you."

The Bulldogs' chances were boosted by Brown's family-like relationship with offensive line coach Will Friend.

"Coach Friend - I’ve known him since I was a freshman and he was at UAB," Brown said. "He’s almost like my dad. I’ve just known him for so long, and we know one another so well."

Brown said Ole Miss came in after the Bulldogs with Florida following them.

"Ole Miss was close,' he admitted.

Brown is considered a four-star JUCO offensive lineman by Fox Sports NEXT.
