RECRUITING: Bulldogs Get JUCO Safety

Published Aug 14, 2012

LEDGER ENQUIRER- Shaquille Fluker of East Mississippi Community College has become the second defensive back in as many days to commit to Georgia.

Fluker, rated a four-star prospect, announced for the Bulldogs on Tuesday, according to Dawgs247.com. Paris Bostick of Tampa committed on Monday.

That brings Georgia's commitment total to 26 for the 2013 class, and eight defensive backs.

The Bulldogs have a major need in the secondary after the 2012 season, with both starting safeties and two of the top cornerbacks are set to graduate. The program also has seen two defensive backs from the 2011 class be dismissed (Nick Marshall, Chris Sanders), along with two more (Derek Owens and Jordan Love) transfer out who would have eligibility in 2013.

Fluker would have two years of eligibility, with one redshirt year available.

The fact Fluker plans to enroll in January is also important for Georgia. The team is aiming to sign up to 34 players this year, which it can do as long as nine players enroll early. (SEC signing rules limit teams to 25 signees between December and August of each year.)
