The 51-year-old Petrino failed to disclose he had been riding with a female employee half his age.
Petrino also admitted to an inappropriate relationship with the woman, Jessica Dorrell. Dorrell was hired by Petrino as the student-athlete development coordinator weeks ago.
Long said Petrino "knowingly misled" him and the athletics department, and that Petrino had multiple opportunities to be forthcoming about the details of the accident. He wasn't.
Long said he learned during his review that Dorrell received $20,000 from Petrino and was also hired from a pool of 159 applicants for the job with the athletic department. Long said the Petrino-Dorrell relationship had been going on for "a significant period of time."
Arkansas has fired football coach Bobby Petrino.
Razorbacks athletic director Jeff Long announced the news at a press conference Tuesday night. Long said Petrino was terminated with cause.
"There was no negotiation about how he could remain as our coach," Long said.
Long said he thoroughly reviewed the details involving a motorcycle accident that sent Petrino to the hospital with broken ribs and a cracked vertebrae.
Wade Apologizes for Vicious Hit on Vandy Punt Returner
CBS SPORTS- Arkansas freshman Marquel Wade apologized Monday for hitting Vanderbilt punt returner Jonathan Krause early, a crushing tackle that led to Wade's ejection Saturday.
Wade has not been suspended for the hit, which occurred during the third quarter of the No. 8 Razorbacks 31-28 win over the Commodores. The wide receiver, playing on special teams, said he thought Krause had the ball when he ran through the returner.
"I was just going out there doing 100 percent, trying to play my game and I messed up," Wade said. "I take all the [responsibility] for everything I did."

Impact Freshman: SEC West
Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix, S: Alabama boasts one of the best safety tandems in the league in Mark Barron and Robert Lester, but the 6-foot-1, 203-pound Clinton-Dix has the size and skill set to come in and make the Crimson Tide even stronger on the back end of their defense.
Cyrus Kouandjio, OT: One of the top offensive tackle prospects in the country last year, Kouandjio could provide some immediate depth. The Tide were already looking at moving All-SEC guard Barrett Jones to left tackle.
Jarvis Landry, WR: If the Tigers are going to make a run at a national championship in 2011, they’re going to need a lot more production from their passing game than they got a year ago. Landry is dynamic in the open field and should complement Rueben Randle and Russell Shepard nicely.
Arkansas Players Getting Lesson on Etiquette
ARKANSAS NEWS- It’s no secret Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino pays attention to detail and expects players to do so as well. So it’s no surprise the ideology was extended to a dinner set up through the program’s student-athlete development staff.
