THE BIRMINGHAM NEWS- After practicing for the first nine days of preseason camp - twice on two days, not counting split-practices on the first day - the Alabama football team enjoyed its first day off on Sunday.

Alabama coach Nick Saban called it "Squad Sunday."

It's "a great tradition we have here at Alabama where our entire team goes to church together," Saban said Saturday after the Crimson Tide's first preseason scrimmage.

"I look forward to that and get to review the films tomorrow afternoon and think the most important thing for every players is to just evaluate the way you are."

Saban doesn't want his players comparing themselves to others.

"Just evaluate where you are, decide where you want to go and decide what you need to do," he said. "Let's decide what you need to do to get there, so we can help every player gets to where he needs to be and wants to be and we need him to be. That's kind of where we're at."

Alabama will resume camp with two practices Monday.
